Gas lift Equipment 900x900 Iwp

Participants will acquire a deep knowledge of the available Gas Lift equipment. The subject will be discussed from a well intervention, completion as well as from a production point of view. This will allow engineers to select the right equipment for their gas lift system design, increase their production by performing more reasoned troubleshooting, and unlock complex well intervention situations.

According to many industry experts, Gas Lift is the least understood artificial lift method, but its complexity is not the reason behind its misunderstanding. Instead, the challenge behind Gas Lift is that after implementing a lousy design, the well will often keep producing, unlike other artificial lift methods (e.g., ESP) that stop producing. Thus, operators fail to recognize design or operating errors that restrain production.

Therefore, there is a significant potential to increase production by oil and gas professionals who understand the Gas Lift system and its fundamental and advanced principles.

This comprehensive industry-based Gas Lift Equipment training course consists of theoretical and practical knowledge regarding all related equipment involved in gas lift production.

Through this gas lift training, participants will come away with a complete overview of gas lift technologies critical to the efficient operation of the gas lift system.

Key components like gas lift mandrels, including conventional gas lift mandrels and side pocket mandrels, will be presented. All items related to gas lift design change-out operation will be shown, like kick-over tools, running tools, pulling tools, and latches. This is critical to master Gas Lift operations.

Gas lift valve mechanics and the gas lift valve calibration procedure will also be explained in detail with practical tips to avoid common calibration errors leading to well operating issues.

A comprehensive review of many specific gas lift valves will be performed and will allow participants to discover solutions to specific issues that they will face in their gas lift wells.

This gas lift course will introduce delegates to many new technologies (like surface-controlled electric gas lift valves or the AVT), but also very old ones forgotten by the market (like balanced valves or flexible sleeve valves).

While it is impossible to be exhaustive in describing existing Gas Lift equipment, this course contains more information than you will find in any Gas Lift training available in the industry. It is there to help you maximize the oil recovery factor through more efficient gas lift systems.

This lesson is the 2nd of a series of 5 designed to help you reach an advanced level in Gas Lift oil production and operations. It follows the course ‘Forms of Gas Lift’ and precedes the courses ‘Gas Lift Unloading Sequence and Mandrel Spacing Design’, ‘Gas Lift Optimization and Design with Existing Mandrels’, and ‘Gas Lift Troubleshooting’.

An essential training tool

May 15, 2023

I am writing this review coming from 50 years in the industry. Retiring from Shell International as Global Subject Matter Expert Gas Lift providing knowledge and training support globally, on site in production surveillance, optimisation, troubleshooting and well reviews to engineering and field staff. I was involved in the development of WinGLUE, WellTracer, Electric GL Valve, the AVT and other technologies.

I was honoured to be asked to look at this module and review.

I understand that many may find the material, too basic, too detailed, too unnecessary for them. Trust me its not. Yes you may never need it and then again you may. You may like me travel the world and work in many different locations, influencing many people as you rise through the ranks. An extra couple of hours gaining knowledge for the journey ahead will serve you well

I found the module extremely detailed and structured. It’s clear the level of work put into the content and quizzes has great depth.

I have added some comments which do not impact content apart from a couple of spelling errors.

Some of the detail in valve operation, charts etc may seem a little unnecessary to the modern day engineer, but will provide a deeper understanding and aid enormously in WRM support.. For field technician and operations types, probably not necessarily of great interest but they should have an awareness and depth for troubleshooting and optimisation.

.

This self paced training I found to be a valuable resource, and the other modules, at the same level of detail provide a strong base for an industry that is rapidly changing, while your wells/infrastructure and processes remain reasonably constant ,

This is an essential training tool for an operation serious about their GL and the skill set of their people.

Honest and unbiased in-depth review of different technologies

August 31, 2020

Clearly the instructor Damien Leonard has had a lot of experience in this subject. He makes an honest and unbiased in-depth review of different technologies. With the way he matches a rich experience with the underlying theory, there is no doubt that one will be well equipped in the design and selection of gas lift equipment after going through this course. As an artificial lift engineer, strongly recommend this course to all those willing to have an edge or that extra touch when trying to go technical with gas lift methods.
